Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What’s the difference between an "all suites" hotel and a regular hotel?

A. In an "all suites" hotel the rooms are larger than those in standard hotels; all rooms at the AmeriSuites have a sitting area, a sink, mini refrigerator, and a microwave.

Q. Does the hotel have a health club?

A. Yes. There is a workout room, a pool, and a hot tub.

Q. The Woodfield Mall area sounds like it’s "way out there". What is in the area?

A. We’ll be across the street from Ikea and we’ll be two blocks from Woodfield Mall; Illinois’ number one tourist attraction. There are many restaurants and clubs within walking distance.

Q. How easy is it to get to Downtown Chicago from the hotel?

A. The hotel shuttle will take you to the Arlington Heights Metra station. Trains run to downtown Chicago; a pass good for unlimited riding costs $ 5.00. The downtown train station is at Madison and Canal.

Q. What is the dress code for the weekend?

A. Casual; Black Tie optional (ladies may Wear Hats) for the Sunday Evening dinner/dance. Wear good walking shoes for the rest of the weekend.

Q. Can you accommodate people with special needs at the regional?

A. Yes we can. Just let us know what your special needs are when you send in your registration. All meals at the hotel are going to be buffet style so we can handle special diets. If you are gluten intolerant let us know; this will allow us to prepare a special entrée if necessary.

Q. I’ve got family in Chicago so I don’t want to stay at the hotel. Can I attend the Regional?

A. Yes; we’ll offer partial or full in-town packages for people who don’t need hotel accommodations. Contact Kevin Brown, ktb4489@hotmail.com, for more information.

Q. What is the significance of the convention logo?

A. The logo is based on the Chicago flag; the blue stripes represent the two branches of the Chicago River and the four CAC logos represent the CACI Midwest Regionals of 1989, 1993, 2001, and 2007.

Q. What kind of air fares can I get to Chicago?

A. Chicago is a major hub; you should be able to get a good fare from any point in the continental United States. Chicago is a major hub for American, United, and Southwest.

Q. Will you be picking up people at the airports or from Union Station?

A. As of this writing, we’ll only be able to pick up and drop off people with late arrivals, early departures, and those who have special needs.

Q. I like to visit lighthouses. Are there any lighthouses in the Chicago area?

A. Yes there are. Go to your favorite search engine to get more information (e.g. type in Chicago Lighthouses in Google or Yahoo). This applies for any special interest, not just lighthouses.

Q. How are the tours going to work?

A. We’ll be carpooling for the tours; admission and meals are on your own. If you take other people in your car, your mileage may be deductible as a charitable contribution.
